Voip

The goal of this artwork was to simply create a conceptual design of a video game character based on inspiration by other existing characters. I designed the character to appear simplistic with subtle details, which is also seen in characters such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Maxwell from the game "Scribblenauts." I kept thinking that he should be able to move around at high speed somehow, so I decided to give him the power to ricochet of objects like a bullet, and I demonstrated his ability through the movement in the live trace drawing itself. I also decided (with the help of my brother) to name the character "Voip" due to the sound that he would most likely make when he ricochets off an object. An issues I had with this live trace is that the outlines in some areas were traced a bit too rough, making them too sketch-like. Another issue I had was that some paths were linked together in an awkward way (for instance, two separate buildings would be traced together as one path), which made it somewhat difficult to color in some of the objects.
