I was interested in using a robot as my subject, so I found this image online and used it as the reference for my live trace. I added color to the original drawing, and I added a simple background with a contrasting color. To make the image more dramatic, I copied my robot layer, made all of the fills black, and rotated, stretched and skewed the layer to create a large cast shadow that moves across the page. I also slanted the light blue shape upward slightly to show an illusion of the robot standing on something. The original drawing was created by Justin Floyd:
