Live Trace

The original piece is on the bottom. I originally was gonna color him in with his normal costume colors, but I really like the venom costume so I decided to color it in with those colors.

I call this piece  "An Unimaginable Warp." I originally decided to draw something that makes me happy. I love going to concerts and this summer I went to Vans Warped Tour. I basically drew the setup of the monster stage. As you can see, the logos on the stage changed from my original drawing. Originally I drew the logo for the band I See Stars. They, in my opinion, had the best performance on that stage that night. I decided to draw a few more band logos under the stage so I'd have more options. I had a hard time getting the logo for Crown the Empire (the gear) so I decided to draw another logo. The last logo I drew(and finally decided to use) was the logo for the band Hands Like Houses' cd titled "Unimagine". I bought the album a few months ago and it instantly became my new favorite album. I consider it a great work of art. The logo itself is also a work of art. It has interesting shapes and an interesting pallet of colors. I thought it'd be perfect to use in a live trace. I had issues with scanning the images in. The live trace didn't work properly so I decided to use the pen tool to trace the images and then use the Live Paint Bucket. I'm really proud of the Unimagine logo especially, because the swatches wouldn't appear so I had to manually create colors. This became especially difficult when I wanted to add a gradient to parts of the logo. Without swatches, making the gradient was incredibly difficult. The gradient wouldn't stay in the form I created it in. I had to keep changing it in order to actually use it in the Live Paint Bucket. I think for all of the work I put in, the logo turned out pretty great!
