Juxtaposition

I had been thinking of Fall while I did this assignment, and a pumpkin was something I thought of when I thought 'organic'.  For mechanical, I figured that an Iron Man mask would work - also, I had been thinking of using a face for the pumpkin anyways, as that's what most people put on the for Halloween. I didn't do anything real special; simply cropped and cut the image of the mask down to size so that it would fit, then blurred and darkened the edges slightly to give it that 'carved pumpkin feel.

This one was a bit tough, I couldn't find the watch I wanted to use, or one that was big enough really. But I liked how simple this one was. I thought this would work well; a skeleton pocket watch in the hole of a tree. Simple enough.

When I think of organic, biological objects and beings, merged with mechanics, this is the kind of thing I think of.  People with prosthetic legs and arms, artificial lungs and so forth. So This idea came to mind. Again, it is just a bit of cropping and selecting, moving and resizing, but I like the idea.

This one I saw as a little more conceptual, putting the gears behind the cutout of the leaf, giving the obviously inorganic materials an organic outline. I wanted to do more to it, but didn't want to over-do it. Some cutting, blending, and sharpening was all this one took.
