Final: Animation (Jaime Uses the Internet)

Easy Paint Tool SAI was used to draw the faces. HyperCam2 was used for screen capture and iMovie was used for the bulk of the animation. Adobe Premier Elements 11 was used for the keyframing and final editing.

Video

For this video I just wanted to play around and use different images that play with your eyes and your mind. Using a lot of rotation and scaling. This was my first time using Adobe Premiere Elements and it was a fun and stressful experience trying to get every image to work the way I wanted it to.

Final Animation: Storyboard

My 1-minute animation will be a completely abstract, fast-paced piece inspired by the animator Len Lye. The piece will start out with a bouncing black ball with brightly colored confetti shapes on it. The ball grows larger and larger until the screen is all black with confetti shapes now starting to scatter and fall down the screen. The shapes begin to turn into fuzzy lines and multiply, with stripes of additional colors appearing. Then, a blue “wave” will scoop up all these lines and start rolling around with them as a ball. Tiny creatures come to the rescue, the stripes are freed from the big blue ball, and the stripes and tiny creatures part ways.

Working title: Mini Mote Saga

Album cover

This is the inner sleeve of my record cover.

This is the front and back cover of my album.

This is the basic sketch of my album before I transferred it onto illustrator. I used the pen too for basically all of the cover but the back and inside were a little illustrator and photoshop.

These are my juxtaposition pieces, i could have sworn that i posted them in class but i guess it didn't go through!

Animation

For my animation I am going to do a more abstract video, like the examples in class with key frame animations over it at certain points. The working title for my final project is Visions or something along those lines. In terms of narrative I'm trying to show a girl who has a  strange dream. The keyframe animation will add to make the dream feel weirder.
For my final animation I would like to wish everyone a happy holidays by having a christmas tree decorate itself. the tree will get bigger and the lights will then wrap itself on the tree. After that, i will snap my fingers and candy canes will appear. From there, happy holidays will work its way in. This will be in stop motion but i would also like to include key framed snowflakes  falling down at the end of the video.

For my animation, I wanted to deal with ecosystems on a microscopic level and wanted to focus on an aquatic environment, like ponds or wetlands. Instead of having an obvious narrative, I plan to have segments focusing on different organisms that exist in aquatic habitats, such as algae, water plants, macro invertebrates and microorganisms, and animals that live in or near the water. I plan on using images of these organisms under a microscope and layering them together to echo the complexity of the ecosystem. Here are some images I plan to use. Hopefully you can get an idea of what I'm going for from them, as the storyboarding in my sketchbook just looks like a bunch of squiggles and massive walls of awful handwriting and doesn't make much sense.
I think my biggest challenge is not making my video dry or boring. I want it to focus on biology without being too esoteric and uninteresting.

Story Board

My idea for this project is to juxtapose sun and moon. The fun thing about it is that it will all take place is in this guys head. It will take a lot of fading opacity and making sure I do not think too hard on position/scale. This project is going to be very tedious, but I am looking forward to the outcome!

Desperate Measure (working title)

This animation is about a dad who forgets to get his son his Christmas present. Since it's 5:00 am at that time, there's not much he can do, so he makes a desperate move by writing a letter to Santa to deliver his son's gifts to him on Christmas. My goal in terms of expressing the story visually is to use simple character and background designs as well as simple keyframe animation in order to finish the project on time.
